Microsoft Teams: Screen sharing with Skype for Business interop
As we all know, one of the reasons why certain companies are not completely transitioning to Microsoft Teams is the interoperability between Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business.
Microsoft is working on several solutions to eliminate interoperability issues. One of these is the option of screen sharing between Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business. This feature is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 53934.
The rollout for Microsoft Teams Worldwide (Standard Multi-Tenant) O365 has started mid-August 2019 and will be completed by the end of August 2019.
The rollout for GCC customers will start soon.
How does this affect me?
With this change, your Teams Only users will be able to share their desktops with users in chats or calls with Skype for Business users. This feature expands how the two applications coexist and interoperate.
In addition, Teams Only users will be able to share their desktops in chats or calls with external partners. This feature facilitates creating a Teams meeting invitation for the external party.
What do I need to do to prepare for this change?
There is nothing you need to do to prepare for this change, but you may consider updating your user training and notifying your helpdesk.
